Senior Data Engineering Consultant
As a Senior Data Engineering Consultant you will be responsible for assisting our clients in the design, architecture, security management and governance of their big data solutions.
About the role and what you'll be doing
As a Senior Data Engineering Consultant you will be responsible for assisting our clients in the design, architecture, security management and governance of their big data solutions. You will be responsible for designing data lakes and massive scale ingestion pipeline solutions including batch/grid, micro batching and stream processing and lambda solutions. Ultimately, you will be responsible for the designing data solutions which encompass high utilisation, elastic scaling and efficient data distribution with for our clients.
As a Senior you will also have the opportunity to provide leadership within the client to really dig into the difficult business problems and help the client transform their opinions on how big data affects their business.
What you’ll bring to Amido
When you join Amido you will be joining one of our teams delivering high level, complex data solutions to our clients. In order to do this it is expected that you have the following skills and experience:
Strong scripting ability with the main languages in the field (Python, Scala, Spark etc)
Advanced knowledge or data storage, including RDMS, cloud storage, HDFS, Google Big Table
Advanced knowledge of distributed query platforms i.e. Spark and Google Big Query
We expect our senior consultants to be self-motivated and commercially astute, so having the ability to understand business and the senior stakeholders involved in the project to ensure that the project gets the attention it needs to make it a success.
Being a senior consultant at Amido means you are always on the front line leading the charge, so you will be working closely with clients and you need to know how to build a network so that when your team needs something you know who to call in a favour from.
You will always be prepared to explain what your project does, how it works and how it benefits the business, therefore you will be used to maintain architecture and design documentation ensuring that there are no miscommunications about how your project works – in your interview expect to pick up a whiteboard marker to help to explain how to solve a problem using cloud technologies.
