Designing a data platform that delivers competitive advantage
Making sense of big data is high up on the leadership agenda with very few organisations being able to successfully unlock valuable insight from siloed data sets. Business-wide data strategy projects are often hard to implement; they are seen as complex, expensive, and without a tangible return on investment, getting company-wide buy-in can be difficult.
Faithful+Gould’s approach to innovation and data enhancement looks at ways to better harness data in order to gain valuable insights that support enhanced value outcomes for their clients. Faithful+Gould were looking for a way to enhance their use of historical and third party data to transform future project planning and they chose to work with Amido on a technical Proof of Concept (PoC) to explore the integration of multiple sets of data and the value that it might deliver to the business.
After a period of 8 weeks working as an integrated project team of Amido technical consultants and Faithful+Gould planners, the Proof of Concept took the form of a working prototype that incorporated a number of data sources and showed how data could empower better decision making. By looking at big data in smaller bitesize chunks, it enabled Faithful+Gould to deliver an enhanced data outcome that demonstrated business value and make the business case for wider investment into data platforms, cognitive services and machine learning.
"Amido really took the time to understand our business, the opportunity we were trying to seize and the insight that would be of most value to our employees and, most importantly, our clients. In what felt like a shared learning experience, Amido showed us what good looks like in software delivery and we upskilled the Amido team in construction ‘best practice’ - the result was a working prototype that has the potential to become a leading process in the new digital era.
